Reviews

"Army Rangers are an elite special operations force of the U.S. Army. They are usually involved in short missions that may include close combat in enemy territory. Rangers are trained on small-unit tactics, mobility, marksmanship, medical training, and physical training. Readers will learn terms, ranks, definitions, and basic facts about Rangers. Subject matter includes the Top Five Extreme Ranger Achievements, info about the first women to graduate Ranger school in 2015, Rangers' involvement at the Normandy invasion of WWII, a reliable canine Ranger that was killed by enemy fire in 2018, Merrill’s Marauders earning bronze stars in WWII, and Rangers destroying enemy weapons at Pointe du Hoc, also in WWII. While the text and images are highly informative and engaging, photos include a downed operative, explosives, strong emotion, and smoking. Prior to obtaining this resource, a review of school policy on educational resources containing weapon information is advised. The duties and roles of Army Rangers are undoubtedly honorable and highly respected, but an adult should review content to determine if this title is appropriate for their students, especially in a school setting. Title is part of the "X-Books" series, specifically the "Special Forces X-Books" series." Children's Literature, January 2022
