Managing Editor, The Creative Company

The Creative Company, an independent, family-owned publisher located in southern Minnesota since 1932, seeks a managing editor to guide list creation and manage book development in our Creative Education and Creative Editions imprints. From insightful board books and daring and evocative picture books to high-quality series nonfiction that never talks down to readers, this venerated list of children’s books needs an experienced publishing professional to grow the list, ensure editorial quality, and shepherd books through the publishing process at all stages, from acquisition and writing to print.

Successful candidates will have 10 or more years’ editorial experience in list planning, maintaining editorial quality across a team of editors, managing project budgets, negotiating and executing royalty and work-for-hire contracts, and overseeing book schedules. Other duties include ensuring that our marketing efforts match the superb quality of our books, from robust product descriptions for metadata to catalog copy, presentations, and more.

On-site employees are strongly preferred; hybrid or remote arrangements will be considered for the right candidate.
